Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. È in arrivo la nuova serie scritta da Tom King

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, è la nuova serie di Tom King in arrivo per DC Comics. La sceneggiatura sarà infatti dell’acclamato autore, mentre i disegni saranno affidati a Bilquis Evely (Sandman Universe: The Dreaming).

Una ragazza aliena la cerca per una pericolosa missione. Il suo mondo è stato distrutto e i cattivi responsabili sono ancora in circolazione. Lei vuole vendicarsi, e se Supergirl non la aiuterà, lo farà da sola, a qualunque costo.

Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but has recently found her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission: her world has been destroyed and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost.

A proposito di Tom King

Con il rilancio DC Rebirth, King diventa il nuovo scrittore della testata ammiraglia di Batman, succedendo a Scott Snyder, che ne aveva scritto le avventure dall’inizio del New 52.

Nel 2017 dà vita alla miniserie di dodici numeri Mister Miracle, con protagonista il personaggio di Scott Free dei Nuovi Dei creati da Jack Kirby. Tale lavoro, disegnato da Mitch Gerards, già co-creatore di Sheriff of Babylon, si rivelerà un successo di critica, fruttando a King diversi riconoscimenti.

L’anno dopo scrive il crossover Heroes in Crisis, incentrato su una sequela di omicidi di meta-umani all’interno della struttura nota come “Santuario” e avente come protagonisti Harley Quinn e Booster Gold. Sempre nel 2018 scrive la maxiserie Superman: Up in the sky, disegnata da Andy Kubert, pubblicata in esclusiva per la catena di centri commerciali Walmart.

Nel 2019 viene annunciato che lo stesso King avrebbe scritto insieme alla regista Ava DuVernay la sceneggiatura del film New Gods, ispirato alle vicende del Quarto Mondo. Vengono inoltre annunciate due ulteriori miniserie a fumetti di 12 numeri: una dedicata al personaggio di Adam Strange, Strange Adventures, per la quale King collabora nuovamente con i disegnatori Mitch Gerards e Evan “Doc” Shaner; l’altra, Batman/Catwoman disegnata da Clay Mann, atta a chiudere le trame lasciate in sospeso dallo scrittore con la conclusione prematura della sua run di Batman.
