Image Comics annuncia Dracula, Motherf ** ker!

Negli scorsi giorni Image Comics ha annunciato Dracula, Motherf ** ker !, una storia pulp che reinventa Dracula di Bram Stoker attraverso due epoche molto diverse: Vienna del 1889 e Los Angeles del 1974.
Scritto da Alex de Campi e disegnato e colorato da Erica Henderson, Dracula, Motherf * cker! è descritto come horror psicologico influenzato da anime horror, romanzi polizieschi e manifesti di film blaxploitation.

Dracula, Motherf ** ker! apre nel 1889 Vienna, quando tre spose di Dracula inchiodano il vampiro alla sua bara. Salta quindi a Los Angeles nel 1974, dove Bebe Beauland, una stellina che punta al top, riporta in vita Dracula. L’unica persona che sa cosa è successo è il fotografo della scena del crimine Quincy Harker, ma sarà difficile convincere la gente a credergli.

L’autore ha dichiarato “I wanted to bring to this pulp fantasia was a sensibility from horror anime, with its love of transformation and of the noncorporeal, to push the element of man-as-monster in directions specifically suited to sequential art. Things like the abstract portrayal of Alucard (or Pride in FMA: Brotherhood), and the use of Superflat art in Madoka Magica were tremendously inspirational in this book, especially as that use of flatness dovetails nicely with the work of Gustav Klimt in with the book’s 1889 prologue, and with late-1960s pop art and the psychedelic liquid-light projections of the Joshua Light Show,”
